ACCOUNTABILITY
Stop deficit spending.

Exercise oversight mechanisms to avoid a repeat of the 3.3 million dollars accounting blunder.

Implement the 2004 County Recovery Plan and not ignore as was done to the 1998 County Recovery Plan.

Hire competent Business Managers.Trim administrative waste before music, P.E., campus safety and maintenance.

Admit mistakes (Don't make excuses)

Ask tough questions, but more importantly, exercise systematic tough follow-up.

PARTNERING
Re-instate abandoned joint City Council - School Board meetings to discuss issues of common concern.

Create School Board Advisory Council and task force(s).

Establish better communications with parents and community through town hall meetings, e-newsletters or e-message boards.

Establish collaborations with community organizations, corporate sponsors especially music, sports, youth and educational stores.

BEST PRACTICES
Seek school success models and dialogue with neighboring School Boards to learn from their successes and failures.

Maintain emphasis on core curriculum while adjusting to the demands of an ever-changing technological society.

Emphasize character education to stop the loss of students to private schools.

Solicit the city's professionals to join the School Board's advisory council and task force(s).

Establish consistent district-wide goals and standards of communication and self-critique.
