My wife, Laura, and I moved to Belmont more than 15 years ago. Our daughters, Ella and Nina, walk every day to their neighborhood public school!

I attended college across the bay at U.C. Berkeley and graduated from law school in San Francisco at U.C. Hastings. I've spent my legal career in public service. For the past 12 years, I've worked at the federal government agency charged with investigating corporate fraud and holding corporate insiders responsible for violating the law.

I joined the Belmont-Redwood Shores School District Governing Board in December 2009 and was elected to a full term in 2011. During my time as a Trustee on the board, the school district has:

  • Preserved the concept of neighborhood schools so that families can walk to class every day;
  • Built community support for an extensive program of classroom modernization and construction to keep up with the district's growing enrollment;
  • Promoted local sources of funding for our schools to protect against budget cuts from Sacramento;
  • Transitioned to new management of the district, from the district office through the school sites, to implement the district's educational priorities;
  • Convened a working group of teachers, staff, parents, and community members to design a new vision and strategic plan for our schools;
  • Opened the new Redwood Shores Elementary School and added transitional kindergarten and sixth, seventh, and eighth grades to Nesbit Elementary School;
  • Within the constraints of public school funding, provided financial support for teachers and staff in order to attract and retain excellent educators; and
  • Provided technology for our classrooms and professional development for teachers.

I'm proud of the work we've done together as a community on behalf of our school. I'm also pleased that the board has formed a strong partnership of the cities of Belmont and Redwood City to address common concerns like traffic, public safety, and strong neighborhoods.

Together, we've accomplished a lot. With your vote, I'll work to continue fighting for our schools!
