Communication

By Gary Boyer

Candidate for Council Member; City of Glendora

This information is provided by the candidate
City Government seems intimidating and complicated, but remember, we are the Government + "of the people, by the people, for the people."
City officials believe they are being transparent when they send you a notice reading: "There will be a hearing to discuss whether or not there may be a temporary change to Zoning Ordinance1265.8, article 12, paragraph 14 pertaining to the geological development of the environmental impact of vegetation eradication of parcel 123-456-7890."

Maybe we should've received a notice that says: "The City wants to cut down a 100-year-old oak tree to build a parking lot."

The tree gets removed and when you ask why, you're told, "We sent out a notice to everyone within 500 feet of the impacted area." Then we are told that no one showed up to the hearing or spoke out against the "temporary change."

City Government seems intimidating and complicated, but remember, we are the Government + "of the people, by the people, for the people."

Officials prefer that the government seem complicated because they can hide behind regulations. City government communications need to be clear and not hide behind bureaucratic language.
