Board Member; Burbank Unified School District

Vahe is a lifelong Burbank resident attending Emerson Elementary, John Muir Middle and Burbank High schools. Vahe was a BHS Scholar Athlete graduate, a Foothill Division Tennis Champion and team captain, and BHS Water Polo team Captain.

Vahe attended the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and graduated with a bachelor of arts in political science. Vahe graduated with a juris doctor from the San Fernando Valley College of Law of the University of La Verne.

Vahe continues to live in beautiful Burbank with his wife Annie P. Hovanessian and their two children: son 6, a first grader at a BUSD elementary school; and daughter 3.

Vahe is a member of the Burbank Noon Rotary and also a volunteer for the Burbank Public Library Literacy Services Department.

Vahe also volunteers his time to support his son's elementary school through the PTA and Boosters. For a few seasons now, Vahe has been the coach of his son's basketball D-League teams, the coach of the AYSO Region 254 U8 Sharks soccer team in Burbank, and assistant coach for his daughter's Jr. NBA league.

COMMUNITY SERVICE

Currently serves on the BUSD Facilities Oversight Committee (SFOC) (6/2010 to present, Chair 4/2012-6/2014). The SFOC oversees expenditures from the $110-million Measure S bond that voters approved last year.

City of Burbank Planning Board (6/2009 to 6/2013, Chair 6/2012-6/2013). The Planning Board is responsible to recommend and administer long range general plans for the physical development of Burbank; to recommend precise plans towards the long-range general plan; to make recommendations regarding proposed map amendments; to make recommendations regarding proposed airport approach map amendments; to objectively and fairly analyze the appropriateness of variances and conditional use permits; and to study and report on text amendments to existing ordinances.

City of Burbank Water and Power Board (6/2003 to 6/2007, Chair 6/2006-6/2007) The BWP Board is responsible for ensuring the provision of water, electric, and related services to meet customer's needs while enhancing value to the community; to ensure the health of our utility; to plan for short, mid and long term circumstances to maintain consistency in service and pricing; to ensure that the residents of Burbank continue to receive the high quality of services currently provided; for reviewing and making recommendations on: capital improvements; purchased power agreements; the annual budget; electric and water rates; contract awards for goods and services; and, public works construction projects.

  • California Interscholastic Federation (CIF), Southern Section Foothill League, Boys' All-League Tennis + 1st Place Doubles (1991 + 1992).

Prior to High School, participated in the Burbank Vikings football program for four years and in the City League Basketball program. Vahe was also a cub/boy scout for nearly a decade.
