ABOUT KIM NICHOLS

President of the Orange Public Library Foundation Former OUSD School Board President and Member Legislative Advocate Small Business Owner, Homeowner. PTA leader, Mentor, Coach, Nurse, Wife, Mother

Orange has been part of my life for nearly 50 years. It is an exceptional place to live and it's important that it remain that way.

My years of public service have provided me with a broad perspective of our city and linked me to neighborhoods throughout Orange. It is all about respecting our history and those that live in our city. It is important to ensure that Orange remains vibrant.

As we move forward, we must remember that our actions and decisions will impact future generations. My experience and leadership skills will guide those decisions to keep Orange special.

My roots are in Orange. I was educated in Orange public schools. My husband and I bought our home 30 years ago and have raised our three children right here in Orange.

That's one reason why the Orange Firefighters Association and the City of Orange Police Association have endorsed her campaign.

Kim Nichols: A Local Leader, Loving Wife And Caring Mother

Kim has been married to Steven Nichols for 31 years. They bought their first home in Orange and raised their three children here. All three, now ages 20 to 26, graduated from Chapman Hills, Santiago Charter and El Modena High School.

Here's what I have learned

  • I understand that our city must take the lead and not depend on Washington or Sacramento.

  • I understand how to balance a budget and live within it. As the President and Board member of OUSD, I oversaw a $250 million budget, over twice as large as the City of Orange.

  • I understand the importance of being accountable to Orange constituents.

  • When appropriate, old practices and policies that hinder forward motion should be revised.

Open and transparent government builds trust and confidence.
