Originally from Belleville, Michigan. Graduated from Michigan State University in 1971 and entered the Navy as an Ensign after completing Officer Candidate School. Served 20 years in the Navy, attended the Naval Postgraduate School (MS in Mangement-Financial) and retired as a Commander in 1992. I have worked as: Assistant Controller, Roman Catholic Diocese of Monterey; VP for Administrative Services at Hartnell College; Adjunct Administrative faculty at the Naval Postgraduate School and Adjunct faculty member at Chapman and Golden Gate Universities; Business Manager for Medunet, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia (2000 to 2002); and Senior Program Manager at CTB (2002 to 2008). I am a retired Certified Management Accountant (CMA) and member of the Institute of Management Accountants. Now retired and part-time "Player Assistant" at the Monterey Pines Golf Course.

I have been married to the former Theresa Honrath for 40 years. We have three grown daughters and two grandchildren. Theresa and I are members of the San Carlos Cathedral Parish in Monterey. We moved to Del Rey Oaks in 1993 and have lived in the same house since then.

I currently represent the city as the Chair of the Monterey Regional Waste Management District and the Chair of the Monterey Regional Water Pollution Control Agency. Past member of AMBAG.
