This information is provided by the candidate

I've lived in Manhattan Beach since 1999 and my husband, Brad Jacobson, and I are the proud parents of our 4 year old daughter, Bella, and her pet fish, Rainbow. I learned from my family at a young age how important it is to give back to the community and have done my best to volunteer with purpose in organizations I believe passionately about, especially ones involving education. Since moving to Manhattan Beach I have been an active volunteer and held leadership positions in numerous organizations supporting our schools, students and the community my family and I love:

  • MBUSD Measure BB Bond Oversight Committee (2009-11; 2012 - present) - serving my second term working alongside other volunteers to authenticate the planning and execution of the District's bond program and the expenditure of $54 million in bond proceeds to modernize Mira Costa
  • Mayor's Youth Council - team leader for the volunteer-led program uniting Mira Costa students and professional leaders to explore leadership, careers, and civic engagement
  • Soroptimist International Manhattan Beach - Director, former Membership VP, of the sponsor organization for Mira Costa's S Club
  • MB Planning Commissioner (2008 to present)
  • MB Parking and Public Improvements Commissioner (2006-08)
  • MB Parks and Recreation Commissioner (2005-06)
  • Leadership Manhattan Beach - past Vice President and Class of 2005
  • Neptunian Woman's Club
  • MB Community Emergency Response Team (MBCERT)

In my "free time", I am also Senior Counsel for Northrop Grumman Corporation, where I have specialized in government contracts and other contracts-related matters since 2003. Prior to joining Northrop I practiced law at private firms and I currently serve on the executive committee of the Los Angeles County Bar Association's Corporate Law Department section. I was the first member of my family to go to college and earned my B.A. in American History from the University of Pennsylvania (1993) and my J.D. from Boston University School of Law (1998).

However, my proudest accomplishment by far is being a devoted mom to my daughter. She reminds me every day how important it is to provide our children with the best education possible. As your School Board member, I will work alongside my fellow Board members to do just that. Our children are and always will be my #1 priority!
