My Pledge:

As a member of the School Board protecting our children's education will always be my #1 priority. I'll promote the excellence of our schools and work with my colleagues to protect the important programs that make our schools among the state's best by focusing on a number of key areas:

Academic Enrichment:

  • Work with district administration and staff to continually improve and enrich the quality of K-12 education
  • Expand focus on innovative K-12 STEM (Science, Tech, Engineering and Math) education
  • Increase support and involvement with SoCalROC program and examine the role of career-technical education
  • Further the development of 21st century teaching and learning strategies
  • Continue utilizing technology as a 21st century tool for teaching and learning
  • Utilize data effectively to assess student progress, analyze results, and adapt instruction to students' needs

Maintain Financial Diligence:

  • Continue Board's focus on responsible and well-planned fiscal management
  • Evaluate creative and innovative new revenue and funding sources to help put MBUSD on an improved financial footing
  • Communicate and maintain transparency in the Board's budget process
  • Implement a successful transition to California's new Local Control Funding Formula (LCFF)
  • Collaborate and clarify relationships with MBEF, PTAs and MBX
  • Deliver the Mira Costa Measure BB‐funded construction project on time and on schedule

Expand Community Involvement:

  • Engage the community and school-related organizations to improve the district's communications and transparency
  • Work to better communicate and represent the quality and excellence of our K-12 School District

Attract and Retain Outstanding Teachers and Staff:

  • Seek out opportunities to engage teachers and staff by providing them with an environment in which to offer rich educational programs
