Check Points

By Richard Alegre

Candidate for Council Member; City of Escondido

This information is provided by the candidate
I feel the most important issue in Escondido is the checkpoints. The community's safety is my number 1 issue and if we don't feel safe in our own city then where can we feel safe. These checkpoints are important to Escondido because they help keep our streets safe. I believe in the rule of law and the checkpoints help enforce that. I know that there are a lot people that feel the checkpoints are a racial issue but this is not true. The purpose of the checkpoints is to catch ANYONE who is driving illegally. This means anyone who is driving under the influence, or driving with no license or insurance or if your car is not registered. The checkpoints also help law enforcement to catch wanted criminals. If I am elected I will continue to work with our police force to enforce these checkpoints so that Escondido's streets are not only safe for my family but your family as well. I was born and raised in Escondido and I always felt safe and was happy to live in such a beautiful city, so my plan is to help make Escondido's community feel just as safe and happy to live in such a wonderful place.
