Natasha Hoehn (pronounced HANE) represents a new generation of education leader. An experienced educator and community activist, Natasha will serve San Francisco's students with the preparation, knowledge, and knowhow to protect our schools and support our kids during these extraordinarily challenging times.

Natasha understands the expectations of families and identifies with the challenges faced by teachers. Natasha knows what great learning in classrooms and schools can and must look like for every student in San Francisco's public schools and what we need to do to get there.

Natasha currently serves as the Senior Partner of California Education Partners, a non-profit organization dedicated to improving public education in the state of California, especially for traditionally underserved populations of students and families. Her experience as an education policy leader and teacher makes her uniquely qualified to serve San Francisco as a school board member.

Beyond her success as a classroom teacher, Natasha has a long track record of leading positive change in our public schools. She is committed to supporting teachers, empowering families, creating partnerships for career and college success, and aligning out of class time with academics to create healthy, meaningful, engaging, creative, and exciting learning opportunities for all students.

Natasha's career has been dedicated to advancing public education. She began as a middle school English teacher in the Bronx in New York City. Her former students are now college graduates working in a variety of fields, from law, education, medicine, and the arts. Natasha's parents are first generation college graduates, educated entirely in California's public schools. Her family has deep roots in California's public schools and labor communities: she is fourth generation San Franciscan on her father's side. Her maternal grandfather was a member of Local 44 in Los Angeles, her grandmother a career office administrator at an elementary school in the Los Angeles Unified School District, and many other members of her family have been lifetime teachers in California's public schools.

Natasha is also a professional singer and active musician and performer in the community. She is a staunch advocate for music and arts education as a fundamental part of a 21st century education. In addition to teaching, learning and music-making, Natasha enjoys writing, cooking, and exploring her hometown with her dog, CJ. She rents a home in the Mission District of San Francisco.
