Revitalizing the Del Mar downtown village remains an unfulfilled goal of our Community Plan. Continued downtown deterioration threatens our property values and reduces available city revenues. I will:
- Support downtown Village Revitalization and minimize impacts on residential neighborhoods through smart growth policies, improved zoning regulations and clear design standards;
- Preserve Design Review oversight to protect views and assure any new development complies with approved standards;
- Encourage all parties - residents, business owners and property owners - to participate in the process;
- Support the City Council's intention that, ultimately, the voters should decide.
