Candidate for
Board Member; Lakeside Community Planning Area

Laura Cyphert is a long-time resident of East County, and a 13 year resident of Lakeside. As a Certified Public Accountant, Laura will bring fiscal responsibility and sound analytical judgment to the board.

In 2003 Laura and her husband, Milt Cyphert, lost their home in the Cedar Fire. Then, in 2008 they learned that SDG&E was planning on building a high voltage transmission project, the Sunrise Powerlink, in Lakeside, that would (according to the project environmental impact report) significantly increase the likelihood of catastrophic fires. This prompted Laura and Milt to establish the East County Community Action Coalition.

Laura's desire to better and protect her community, and to be a good steward for the future of Lakeside, is what has motivated her to serve her community.
