VALUES-BASED LEADERSHIP -- COMMUNITY-BASED RESULTS.

JOHN RADFORD, Candidate for Los Altos Hills City Council

John Radford co-founded Radford Associates in 1975 and led the firm to a premier market position as the top compensation survey provider for the technology industries. After nearly 20 years at Radford, he accepted the top compensation position at Cisco Systems where, over the next eight years, he implemented some of the most recognized and leading compensation and HR-related programs in the field. John rejoined Radford in 2002 as a senior vice president. His primary responsibilities include the overall management of the Global Life Sciences Survey and the management of the company's Strategic Steering Committees. He also is a regular speaker on a wide variety of compensation topics. John earned a Bachelor of Science degree in economics from University of California, Santa Barbara, and a master of business administration from Stanford Graduate School of Business.

John is married to Kathy and they have two daughters. John has resided in the Bay Area since 1975, living in Los Altos Hills since 1998, where he built his home using the newly implemented "Fast Track" approval process, providing John with an in-depth understanding of the building process in Los Altos Hills.

In 2002 he served for 3-4 years on the New Town Hall Committee to build a New Town Hall. John was instrumental in surveying the Town to obtain the preferences of the residents in what kind of a Town Hall design they wanted. The new design for the Town Hall was completed using many new "green" elements and was completed on time and on budget. In addition, John served on the Donor Wall Committee which was the first public art project in the Town. The fund raising effort raised over $150,000 for the Town.

In 2002 John co-chaired the Measure H parcel tax for the Los Altos School District, which successfully passed with over 67% voter approval. However, following the closure of the only public elementary school in Los Altos Hills, John became active on the Los Altos Hills Education Committee and has fervently pursued restoring public education back in LAH.

A great achievement occurred with the reopening of the Gardner Bullis School in 2008. John has continued serving on the LAH Education Committee and works closely with other educational colleagues at both Los Altos School District and the Bullis Charter School.

Education philanthropy is important to John and Kathy. John serves on the Board of Resource Access For Teachers (RAFT), which provides teachers access to tools and collaterals used for teaching.

In addition to his voluntary efforts in Los Altos Hills, John serves on the Board of Next Door Solutions to Domestic Violence that has addressed over 7000 cases of domestic violence this past year in Santa Clara County. John is a frequent participant at their seminars and serves as a moderator.
