Student Achievement

By John H. Pruitt, Jr.

Candidate for Member, Governing Board; Chino Valley Unified School District

This information is provided by the candidate
Chino Valley USD has a large number of students attending other school districts because our district does not provide challenging coursework. Walnut Valley USD has 350 of Chino Valley USD's students attending their district.

CVUSD is losing about $1.8 million in ADA revenue to Walnut Valley. I believe CVUSD can re-capture those students by raising the standards of academics thru more AP courses.

I also proposed the district create a career tech program to capture those not college bound. Non college bound students will stay in school as opposed to dropping out or going to a trade career training course. This concept will increase CVUSD's ADA revenue!

The district should move to create a concept of a charter district for academics. This concept should decrease the number of students lost to the Oxford Preparatory Charter School. I am not trying to break the OP Charter, but I am looking to provide the best education offered to our community and students.
