When I first ran for Council, my daughter Lauren was attending Laurel Elementary, a gallon of gas was $1.19 and our City budget was $29 million.

According to a Councilman's newsletter, in 2008 the Council approved 55 new or increased fees to balance its total budget which is now over $84 million. Today, we have 52 employee's making more than $100,000 base pay. With benefits; 18 earn more than $200,000 with the City Manager near the top of the list at $276,242, annually...once they retire the ongoing costs will bury the city in debt. If you are tired and want a new direction, you know why I am running. Its time Again for change in Brea!

Change for a better Brea not focused on street sweeping fines and parking permits. We can support public safety by streamlining overhead and free up money to support our schools that are in equal dire straights financially. We can begin by not paying city managers more than the Governor.

Stand with me this time and let's make it happen. Vote Steven Vargas and let's get Brea back to the financial discipline we all should expect. Call 714-306-4523 or e-mail vivavargas@aol.com to volunteer.
