Fiscal Crisis

By Charlie Mensinger

Candidate for Board Member; Newark Unified School District

This information is provided by the candidate
Now, more than ever, Newark requires board members with experience and expertise in reading, developing, and managing budgets -- I am that person
Newark, like most cities in California, is in a fiscal emergency -- the school district is no different. We need to make approximately $4 million dollars in cuts but we need to do it intelligently.

I believe the board has made some cuts without all the information; when this is the case, I have voted against the proposed cuts. Please reach out to Newark School Board members and ask them to ensure that fully understand the issue before making the decision. Our children and their education are at stake.

I have vast experience in developing and managing multi-million dollar budgets. Now, more than ever, we require those skills if we are to continue providing a quality education for our children and solid employment for our teachers and classified employees.
