Marin County is a special place to live. I am immensely proud to have spent the last 40 years serving the people of Marin. I started as a beginning-level Deputy Sheriff in 1969, then moved through the ranks in every bureau and division of the organization as Sergeant, Lieutenant, Captain, appointed Undersheriff and + for the past 14 years + as Sheriff.

As your Sheriff, I have worked hard to keep Marin County among the safest in California. Together, we have kept crime rates low and implemented a number of innovative programs to work alongside the community to solve problems, such as at-risk youth.

Marin County needs an experienced leader as their Sheriff; someone who understands law enforcement, our unique community and the complexity of an organization the size of the Marin County Sheriff's Office.

The Marin County Sheriff's Office has a staff of 207 sworn deputies and 114 law enforcement professionals, with a budget of more than $50 million. Our Office is constantly looking for ways to improve the Sheriff's Office and to continue keeping the people of Marin safe. And we pride ourselves on listening to and working with Marin residents served by office to determine service needs, including conducting bi-annual polls.

This year, in a move projected to save the county $400,000 a year, the Board of Supervisors voted to eliminate the stand-alone Coroner's Office and merge it into the Sheriff's Office. With a 2010 budget of $1.2 million a year and six staff people in the Coroner's Office, we can easily accomplish this task to create a more efficient county government.

Forty-seven of California's fifty-eight counties already have a combined Sheriff-Coroner's Office. The move will allow us to save one-third of the Coroner's Office budget and still provide quality coroner's service.

As I seek to be re-elected as your Sheriff, and become the new Sheriff-Coroner, I invite your thoughts and ideas.

I invite you to visit my website at http://www.doyleforsheriff.com to learn more or learn how to contact me with any questions.

Thank You, Sheriff Bob Doyle
