For the past 19 years I have worked in the El Dorado County Assessor's Office, serving the last seven as Assistant Assessor under Tim Holcomb, Assessor.

Prior to working for the El Dorado County Assessor, I was an accountant in public and corporate practice for 10 years and owned two businesses. Before that, I served in the US Air Force.

When I left the Air Force, I moved to Placerville and went back to school on the G.I. Bill. I earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Accounting from California State University, Sacramento.

Currently, I am a member of Kiwanis International of Placerville. I also serve on the Board of Directors of Family Connections, a local non-profit that provides services for youth and families and am a member and director of Taxpayers of El Dorado County. This year I am enrolled in the El Dorado Conty Chamber Leadership Class IV, a yearlong program to develop better understanding of our community and the challenges we all face.

I serve as the Chairman of the El Dorado County Fish & Game Commission and am the Treasurer of Hangtown Fly Fishers. My past public service includes Boy Scouts of America where I was Assistant Scout Master for Troop 52 in Camino, and later District Chairman for the El Dorado District. In addition to the Boy Scouts I have served as treasurer for youth soccer leagues and First Lutheran Church.

While I am a California Native, my father was a Coast Guard Commander and we moved up and down the eastern seaboard until his retirement in the mid 60's when we returned to California. With that background of moving every year or two as a child living in the Placerville for 30 years has given me an appreciation for the richness of our communities and the sense of belonging. My wife Heidi and I live in Mosquito with our youngest daughter, Grace. My other children Kara, Trevor and E.J. are grown, with homes and families of their own.
