Smart Voter Full Biography for Kevin D. Dyson

Candidate for
Supervisor; Township of East Norriton

This information is provided by the candidate

My name is Kevin D. Dyson and I am a 33 year old environmental engineer licensed in a number of states. My primary focus over the last 12 or so years has been civil and environmental engineering design, construction, environmental remediation, brownsfields and industrial redevelopment. I became an environmental engineer because I absolutely love to be outside and our natural resources are dwindling at a dramatic rate. I have said on numerous occasions that if the general public witnessed half of what I have witnessed, there would be utter outrage.

As I said above, I love being outside whether it be around the house gardening, landscaping or outdoor projects. I am also an avid hunter, fisherman, camper and hiker. Although I don't get to spend as much time in the field as I used to when growing up, my favorite time of year is definately the fall months when the weather is cool and the leaves are changing.

I chose to run for a seat on the Board of Supervisors out of frustration and the feeling that I could use my knowledge base to better our Township. What caused the frustration? It ranges from my involvement in the Einstein Hospital debate, tax increases from a variety of fronts, the realization that some parties within the Township don't care to hear input from the elected constituency to the significant changes that the Township will go through in the coming years. We need someone that is willing to get in, get their hands dirty and use direct relevant experience to lead us through the major changes that East Norriton Township is about to undergo.

While I was collecting signatures to have my name added to the ballot, quite a few residents asked me why it is that I want to run for a Supervisor and why I want to be a politician. My answer was simple; I am not a politician, I am an engineer!

I was born in Charletson, WV and throughout my life have lived in various cities in the midwest including Pittsburgh and Detroit. After high school, I attended Penn State University where I received my B.S. in Geo-Environmental Engineering in May 1997. I met my now wife Jeanine in 2000 and we were married outside of Hazleton, PA in December 2004. We have lived in the township since 2006 and currently reside with our three pups (Bobalky, Halusky and Belka) on Brambling Lane.

I currently work for a medium sized civil and environmental construction company in southern New Jersey. As a Senior Project Manager I am responsible for business development, engineering design, project management, research and development, budget tracking and forecasting, or anything else that may need to be done that day!

My first involvment in the Township was during the great Hospital debate. I responded to a request to review some of the plans being generated throughout the application and approval process. It was then that I started to understand the frustration of so many residents.

An interesting little fun fact that I would also like to publish is because I am employed full time, I will not need the township afforded benefits, so that money can be used to offset some of next year's tax increase.
