Smart Voter Political Philosophy for Kevin D. Dyson

Candidate for
Supervisor; Township of East Norriton

This information is provided by the candidate

1) Fiscally Conservative

Reduce or eliminate future tax increases through budget scrutinization and promotion of small business and increased employment through new revenue generation.

2) Future Planning

We need to develop a Township Infrastructure Master Plan that can be used to better forecast future maintenance problems as a result of our aging infrastructure. The plan can also be used to evaluate weaknesses in our current system and utilize 100% Design Documents to apply for federal stimulus type of funding mechanisms as they come available.

3) Pro Small Business Growth

The future of revenue generation, and frankly of this country, lies in the entrepreneurs of today and tomorrow. I would promote small business growth in the Township by developing a graduated Business Privilege Tax system where a new company, or a company that opens a new office or facility in the Township, would receive tax breaks in the first 3 - 4 years of operation. These tax breaks would gradually expire at year 4. This incentive will make East Norriton more attractive than neighboring Townships to emerging businesses.

Additionally, I would also propose that new businesses that hire residents of East Norriton Township would receive a tax credit for the first year of employment. The tax credit would be based on the employee's salary and would require the employee to complete 1 full year of service to the company.

4) Develop and Support Green Space Initiatives

Green and open spaces within the township are dwindling at a rapid rate as new developments are constructed. I believe that we need to work not only with new developers, but also to work with property owners to ensure that current green spaces are protected. Additionally, I would engage property owners for sites such as the Gill Quarry Site to determine what the long term use of the property will be following backfilling to approximate original contour.
