Gail Price has lived in Palo Alto since 1990. She and her husband, Jeff Salzman, have three sons, Mike, Ben, and Will, who all attended PAUSD schools and graduated from Gunn High School.

Gail received B.A. and M.A. degrees in Social Science and Asian Studies, from the University of California at Berkeley, and an M.A. in Geography from the University of Maryland. A longstanding member of the American Institute of Certified Planners and the American Planning Association, she has been a credentialed professional planner in both local and regional government. Currently she is the Executive Director of The American Institute of Architects in Santa Clara Valley. Prior to her current position, she worked as the Director of Individual Giving at the San Jose Museum of Art and as a transportation planner with the Valley Transportation Authority.

Gail Price brings a long history of public service and community volunteerism to her campaign for a seat on the Palo Alto City Council. As a Palo Alto School Board Trustee for 8 years, Gail demonstrated skills and expertise as an elected official. A strong, committed leader, she listens to the public, appreciates staff work and consistently pursues solutions to complex planning and community issues. Gail is widely regarded as deliberate and fair. Her past community work has included leadership positions with Palo Alto Community Child Care, various planning committees for PTA and PAUSD and housing and community school boards in other communities. Gail also worked on a committee task force, which was convened to address mental health issues. She has also conducted fundraising for the schools, including being one of the founding members of Juana Run, and other fundraising for special programs.

She serves on the boards of the Arts Council of Silicon Valley and the Palo Alto Family YMCA. Gail is a long-time member of the Sierra Club and many performing and visual arts organizations.

In 2007-08, celebrating nearly two decades of civic commitment in Palo Alto, Gail Price received the Sally Siegel Friend of Education Award from the Palo Alto Educators' Association, and the Local Community Hero Award from the Peninsula Interfaith Acton.
