Statement of GAIL PRICE, Candidate for
Member, Palo Alto City Council

Occupation: Executive Director           Age: 61
Education and Qualifications:
     Executive Director, American Institute of Architects Santa Clara Valley. B.A. and M.A., UC Berkeley, M.A., University of Maryland. Two terms on the Palo Alto School Board. Twenty-two years as a certified, professional city and transportation planner. Eighteen years of leadership in community service to Palo Alto and Silicon Valley. In eight years on the Palo Alto School Board, I demonstrated leadership, brevity and directness, and compassion.
     From my elected office and professional and community service, I understand the key issues facing our city: land use, transportation, economic health, and services to residents, including children and families. With my credentials and leadership skills, I will be an effective Council member focusing on: 1) Fiscal responsibility, accountability and transparency; 2) Healthy sustainable land use planning and practices; 3) Managed growth with balanced outcomes and "green" design principles; 4) Better local and regional transpor¬tation; 5) Varied housing and strong retail centers to serve neighborhoods; and 6) Constructive relationships with business, PAUSD and Stanford.
     I've built a record of thoughtful, creative, and committed decision-making based on civic engagement. I will bring these skills and insights to help guide the City back to greatness. Learn more about my values and goals for the City at http://www.gailprice.org.
