In the last eight years, the board seems to have lost touch with student concerns & problems that affect the students ability to attend classes.
Parking was a problem eight years ago, and it still remains a problem now. Enrollment is still going up, parking spaces are not. New buildings are being built for more classes and students, parking lot structures are not. If students are late to class because they took too long to park, THEY ARE DROPPED FROM THE CLASS! LOCKED OUT OF THEIR DREAMS BECAUSE NO ACTION HAS YET TO BE TAKEN! Even the city of Rancho Cucamonga doesn't appreciate the 22,000 students in their city, they give the students tickets for parking on the street. Yet with a budget for this period of 2009-2010, of OVER $200 MILLION, YES $200 MILLION DOLLARS, this board could not find a way to build an adequate parking structure on the rancho campus, and hasn't for the last two terms of operation. The year before, the budget was even bigger, $225 MILLION DOLLARS, but nothing was done that year, and there was $25 MILLION MORE SPENT. And by the way, the land on campus for this needed parking exists and still remains undeveloped, even though new buildings are going up. I built an entire junior high campus for the Moreno Valley school district in less than one year, I can get a parking structure built in my first four year term, that's a promise. This is why I need your vote this coming Tuesday, Nov. 3rd, so I can provide these students with what they need to succeed, not be dropped out of class because they couldn't find a good parking place.
