Angie Reyes English is known for her experience in government and commitment to her community and public service. In November 2005, Angie was overwhelming elected Hawthorne's City Clerk with an impressive 66% of Hawthorne voters support.

Born in Mt. Home, Idaho to migrant farm working parents, Angie's parents were married young. Having left San Antonio, Texas where they were both born and raised to go north to find work, at the time Angie was born, the family had settled in Idaho. Angie is the second youngest daughter in a ten sibling household. With thirty mouths to feed Angie learned a strong work ethic and shared in many tasks with her brothers and sisters, including how to operate a fork left, laying irrigation pipes, and operating a commercial saw mill. Tragedy fell upon the Reyes family in December 1977 when Angie's mother Lupe, suddenly died of natural causes leaving six children at home to be raised by her single father Emilio who never married again. It was at this time that Angie developed her sense of activism, self determination, perseverance, and a strong will having to protect and stand up for her a brother who was diagnosed with down syndrome and caring for father who spoke limited English.

After graduating from high school, Angie worked as a pre-school teacher and teacher's aide where she received vocational training and a certificate in pre-school education. Some time would pass before Angie would meet her future husband Edwin English, a member of the United States Air Force stationed in Idaho from California.

Today, Edwin and Angie have been married 24 years, 22 of which have been spent living in Hawthorne raising their daughters Adrienne, Natasha, and Nicola English and granddaughter Reina Angilene.

Angie's humbled beginnings, compassionate spirit and strong family values led her to a career in public service starting with her election as President of Leuzinger High School's PTA where she involved parents, teachers, and students in a successful collaboration involving services, resources, information, and grant funding.

Known for reaching out and building coalitions, Angie is a dedicated activist and member of the Hawthorne community, A member of Glory Christian Fellowship Church in Carson, Angie brings her background working in government, her four years as City Clerk, and her perspectives not only as a stakeholder in the City of Hawthorne, but as a parent and grandparent.

Angie has worked with local, federal and state elected officials. She's served as a Field Deputy to Los Angeles 9th District Councilwoman Jan Perry and is currently a Senior District Representative for Senator Curren Price (26th District). In addition, she's volunteered for the past five years as a Crisis Intervention Worker with the City of Los Angeles' Office of the Mayor. Since her election as City Clerk in Hawthorne, she's completed training as a Certified Municipal Clerk (CMC) at USC Riverside in Riverside, CA.
