Candidate for
Governing Board Member; Claremont Unified School District

I came to southern California in 1971 when I married my husband, Chris. We have 4 grown children, all of whom graduated from Claremont High School.

I have been an active community volunteer. When my children began to attend school I became an involved parent, first volunteering in the classroom and then becoming active as a PFA member and a parent representative on the School Site Council at Sumner Elementary. I served as Chair of that council for 5 years.

While my children attended El Roble I was an active Band Booster and at various times held office with that group.

At Claremont High School I served on the Curriculum Committee, School Site Council, and Band and Swim & Dive Team Boosters.

In 1994 I was employed by CUSD to work at Sumner as the Categorical Programs Coordinator and held that position until June 2005.

In November 2005 I was elected to my first term on the Claremont School Board. I have served as Clerk, Vice-President and currently as President of the Board.

I like being on the school board even when difficult decisions are made. I believe I bring a balanced, thoughtful approach to the Board table, that I am collaborative, and that my 4 years of experience and leadership are essential to the continuing success in Claremont schools.
