Enid has been a resident of Sierra Madre for the past 22 years. She and her husband raised their family in Sierra Madre, participating in AYSO soccer and Little League. Enid has been an active volunteer in civic affairs for the past 15 years serving on the General Plan Committee, Planning Commission and City Council. Born and raised in Brooklyn New York, Enid graduated from Barnard College and then migrated to sunny California to go to graduate school at UCLA. After seven years at the San Gabriel Valley Region of United Way, Enid joined Southern California Edison. Over the next 18 years she worked primarily in government relations and electric transportation. In 1999, she and a fellow Edison employee started a business to install electric car chargers and solar energy. Husband Joel Shapiro is also a transplant from the east coast. He is currently Deputy Superintendent of the Burbank Unified School District. Enid and Joel have one son, Adam, who went through AYSO soccer and Little League in Sierra Madre. After attending La Salle H.S. and U.C. Santa Cruz Adam recently joined Price Waterhouse Coopers in San Jose.
