Steve McShane is Founder, Owner and General Manager of McShane's Nursery & Landscape Supply. Steve is a Soil Science graduate from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo and has his MBA from Santa Clara University.

Steve served as a Hartnell College Trustee from 2003 to 2007. He resigned in July of 2007 because of the purchase of a home in town. As Trustee, Steve served one year as Vice Chair and another as Chair. He has also served on the Hartnell Foundation Board and the Sunrise House Board of Directors.

Prior to opening the nursery, Steve worked in the local fresh vegetable business at both New Star Fresh Foods and Taylor Farms. Steve also spent five years working for Senator Bruce McPherson. This included time in the State Capitol as a legislative aid, locally as District Director and Deputy Campaign Manager in the Senator's bid for Lieutenant Governor in 2002.

Steve's educational career includes classes taken at four community colleges including Foothill, De Anza, Cuesta and Hartnell. It was as a student at the community college that Steve gained his appreciation for the incredible doors places like Hartnell will open. Steve has been active in Rotary and the boards of Meals on Wheels, Habitat for Humanity and the City of Salinas Police Commission. He is founder and past chair of the Central Coast Young Farmers and Ranchers. He served as State Chair for the Young Farmers and Ranchers and currently sits on the National Young Farmers and Ranchers Board. Steve lives in South Salinas.
