Lisa Martellaro-Palmer is an engineer, community activist, wife and mother with unique experiences that will make her an excellent choice for Los Angeles City Council in the Sixth District.

Lisa was born in Richmond, California in 1966 but has spent the last eighteen years in the San Fernando Valley. Currently, she lives in Van Nuys with her husband Michael, daughter Mary and their chocolate labrador, Duncan.

Lisa attended California State University at Northridge and completed her Engineering degree in 1994 and her Masters in Public Administration in 2006.

Lisa has worked as a Transportation Engineer within the City of Los Angeles for the last twelve years. She started the Speed Hump Program for the City of Los Angeles, designed roadway channelization for the Geometric Design Section and worked in the District Offices with community groups and councilmembers. Lisa enjoys working with the public and has the ability to communicate tecnical details to community members.

Lisa has been involved in her community in a variety of ways. She has served on the Van Nuys Neighborhood Council and chaired the transportation committee. She is also the block captain for the Valerio Street Neighborhood Watch. She attends several joint neighborhood council meetings and represents her neighborhood council at the Mayor's Budget Day.

Lisa would like to improve the District by cleaning up many of the major streets, improving the appearance of the district through community re-development, reducing crime, making it greener, improving traffic congestion and developing safer communities. Lisa would like to form partnerships within District Six and have regular town hall meetings to hear the wants and needs of the community members. She wants to be accessible to the community so that she can know what problems exist. Lisa would like to have an open dialogue with the community so that real improvements can be made within District Six.
