George Barnett is a former Eagle Scout & Assistant Scoutmaster. He graduated from Purdue University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemical Engineering. He is a registered Republican and former member of the National Rifle Association. He is married to his first wife and has three adult sons. He is a resident and taxpayer of Alpine. He has no business interests in Alpine, and owns no property but his home. He has never held a publicly elected position.

He is a retired chemical engineer.

George is a leading force in a community group opposing the proposed off-reservation casino planned by a Detroit gambling syndicate for the SIHC site on west Willows Road.

He is an officer of the Alpine High School Citizens Committee, working to bring a high school to Alpine. He is the chairman of Supervisor Diane Jacob's Revitalization Committee for Active Parks and Recreation for Alpine working to get a large sports park built in Alpine. He is an active member of the Trails and Parks Sub-Committees of the Alpine Planning Group.

He is 63 years old and in good health.
