Candidate for
Council Member; City of Fullerton

This information is provided by the candidate

Doug Chaffee is a long time Fullerton resident and he has been a strong advocate for Fullerton's neighborhoods for more than twenty years. A graduate of Fullerton Union High School, Chaffee returned to the community after completing his studies at Northwestern University School of Law. His passion for improving Fullerton is evidenced by a long term commitment to promoting reasonable growth that is responsible and carefully planned.

He opposed the parking structure at Bastanchury and Brea Blvd, and the inappropriately located Sunrise project on Euclid. He was instrumental in defeating the zone change at Bastanchury and Laguna (Providence Center) and opposed the closing of the Sunny Hills Racquet Club. He helped save Fox from the wrecking ball, and is currently working to maximize open spaces in Coyote Hills for families to enjoy.

In addition to this passion for improving Fullerton, Chaffee brings a solid background in business law, city planning, and community service to the Council he has helped hundreds of small businesses over the years, and understands their problems. He has worked out solid solutions for many people and knows how to approach the challenges presented. Doug Chaffee is committed to listening to Fullerton residents to ensure they have adequate and timely input on projects affecting their neighborhoods.

Doug and his wife Paulette are currently raising two sons in Fullerton. Chaffee believes that Fullerton is a very special place. He and his family are lucky enough to live in a place with a world-class education system that still has a small town feel, with charming neighborhoods and small businesses. He decided to run for Council because he is concerned that Fullerton's small town charm is being covered with concrete, pitted with potholes, and brought to a halt by daily gridlock. Chaffee is known as a problem solver, and plans to bring a thorough balanced approach and common sense results to the City Council.
