Smart Voter Full Biography for Daniel Davis

Candidate for
Councilmember; City of Pacific Grove; Unexpired Short Term

This information is provided by the candidate

I have lived in Pacific Grove for 26 years and feel fortunate my children grew up in this special community. I recently retired from MBARI, where I served for eighteen years including six years in management. As manager for the Engineering Department I was responsible for all technical development and, as part of the institute's executive management team, the development of the annual budget, which was comparable to the current City budget.

Prior to MBARI I was an Associate Professor of Computer Science at the Naval Postgraduate School from 1983 to 1985. Prior to that I worked at Digital Research Inc. the small software company founded in Pacific Grove by Gary Kildall that was so instrumental in bringing about the personal computer revolution. I had met Gary when we were both in the Mathematics Department at NPS from 1969 to 1978.

I have Ph.D in Mathematics from Cal Tech and a B.S. in Mathematics from Georgia Tech.
