Public Transportation

By Jo Chamberlain

Candidate for County Supervisor; County of San Mateo; Supervisorial District 3

This information is provided by the candidate
San Mateo County public transportation is shamefully inadequate. Public transportation is vital to the growth and welfare of San Mateo County, and I will work hard to improve it.
I advocate a strong regional approach to public transit, with highway spending limited primarily to infrastructure maintenance. Transit modes should be integrated and interlinked.

Walking and bicycling are important transportation modes, and should be encouraged through walker- and rider-friendly environments.

Reliable, round-the-clock bus and train service is important to encourage new riders to count on public transportation. I advocate the expansion of bus and CalTrain service, as well as light rail and high-speed rail.
