Preserving the San Mateo County coast requires upholding the California Coastal Act. Too often the San Mateo County supervisors act as a rubber stamp for development interests. I will uphold the letter and the spirit of the Coastal Act.Uphold the California Coastal Act. District 3 includes most of the San Mateo County coastside. I support full enforcement of the California Coastal Act, as well as the local coastal programs (LCPs) developed under the Act. SF Bay Fill: Just say no. I oppose any further filling of the Bay, for airport expansion or any other purpose. SFO's congestion problems, if they again become a problem, should be addressed by better use of other Bay Area airports, more efficient use of SFO itself, and ultimately high-speed rail to Sacramento and Los Angeles. Renewable Energy. We have the technology today to move from dependence on oil and gas to independence through renewable energy. San Mateo County should be a leader in using and encouraging renewable energy. |
