Andrew Lachman has been a leader in improving our communities and defending Democratic values (opportunity, justice/equality and a secure peace) for over 18 years.

Andrew serves as Corresponding Secretary of the Democratic Party of the San Fernando Valley, an alliance of 24 Democratic clubs from West Hollywood, West Los Angeles, Los Feliz and San Fernando Valley and was on the steering committee of the Democratic Alliance of the Westside in 2005 and is president of Democrats for Israel-Los Angeles.

He also serves as the representative to the Executive Board of the California Democratic Party for the 42nd Assembly District, where he also served as co-founder, co-chair and Los Angeles Basin Community Coordinator for the new precinct organizing program in 2005, organizing 20 precincts in Beverly Hills, West Hollywood and the Fairfax area to turn out votes to oppose Governor Schwarzenneger's "Special Interest" election.

He was active in the Anti-Defamation League's Salvin Leadership Development Program and is currently active in the Los Angeles Jewish Federation's New Leaders Project.

Andrew has long been dedicated to building coalitions and working with others to protect Democratic values. He was co-founder of the Stonewall Young Democrats and during the time he lived in the Valley, he turned the San Fernando Valley Young Democrats from a group of 10 Assembly staffers who met at happy hour into a strong 100+ member organization which has raised over $40,000 in three years at its annual Robert F. Kennedy Award reception, serving as SFVYD's president from 2001 to 2004. He was the recipient of the 2004 California Young Democrats Leadership Award.

In 2005, Andrew spearheaded an effort to amend the state constitution, that would have increased access to the polls for young people, falling 6 votes short of the 2/3 majority needed. ACA 17 was endorsed by the AFL-CIO, the Rainbow Coalition and the California Democratic Party. Voter protection is a key issue.

He also works with grassroots organizations such as SoCal Grassroots (Hollywood Grassroots, Westside Grassroots and Valley Grassroots for Democracy) to improve the Democratic Party and ensure that our leaders stand up for Democratic Values. He is a member of Stonewall Democratic Club, Sherman Oaks Democratic Club, West Hollywood Democratic Club, and Hollywood Highlands Democratic Club.

He has served as Public Safety Chair and Bylaws Chair of the MidCity WEST Community Council, developing innovative anti- programs and working with business, education and community leaders to reduce crime and neighborhood.

Andrew works as an attorney with Nahai Law Corporation and from 1999 to 2001, served as corporate counsel to Homestore.

He also works with other Democratic organizations, lecturing and training precinct organizers.

In 2004, he took two months off from his own law offices to become Deputy Constituencies and Issues Director in Pennsylvania for the Kerry Edwards Campaign, running the most successful college voter turnout campaign of any state. He has also served as Southern California Political Director for State Controller Steve Westly's successful campaign in 2002 and prior to law school, served as Deputy Director of the 1994 Maryland Coordinated Campaign. He has been a delegate to the past two National Democratic Conventions, and co-chaired Jews for Kerry in 2004.

Andrew has a B.A. from American University and a J.D. from George Washington University. He grew up in Wisconsin and Maryland, moving to Los Angeles in 1998. His family has since moved to Texas, where his father works in public health and his mother is a social worker.
