  • MY AMERICAN DREAM BIOGRAPHY:

When I was a YOUNG BOY in my native DUBLIN, IRELAND, I read a brief desciption about the AMERICAN GOVERNMENT on the back of a CORN FLAKES box. It was then that I started to DREAM ABOUT COMING TO AMERICA and knew that I would have to SAVE MY MONEY UP for such a GREAT TRIP.

  • SCHOOL AND UNIVERSITY:

I grew up as a typical Irish boy - Altar Boy, Boy Scout and Volunteer at the Saint Vincent de Paul Society.

I graduated from a Jesuit high school, GONZAGA COLLEGE in Dublin, where I played all the sports - rugby, Gaelic football, hurling, and soccer. At age 16, I ran the DUBLIN CITY MARATHON in 3 hours, 45 minutes.

In academics, I won the BEST SPEAKER FROM THE FLOOR in the Debating Society, had the lead role in a SCHOOL PLAY and in the MUSICAL, and then graduated with HONOURS.

I completed 3 years at UNIVERSITY COLLEGE DUBLIN, where I studied AGRICULTURAL SCIENCE. With unemployment at eighteen percent in Ireland, I had cause to dream once again about COMING TO AMERICA.

  • NEW YORK CITY, VERMONT AND CAPE COD:

When my airplane landed in New York City, I had the great sum of SEVEN HUNDRED UNITED STATES DOLLARS in my pockets. I eagerly took every job that I could find. When I had found a live-work position as MATRE'D at the Fresh Meadows Country Club in Great Neck, Long Island, I knew that I would thrive in the RESTAURANT TRADE. I then spent the winter in VERMONT and the summer in CAPE COD working in the hospitality industry.

  • SAN DIEGO, LAGUNA BEACH AND FOUNTAIN VALLEY:

With the coming of another winter, my AMERICAN DREAM took a a sharp WESTWARD TURN that took me to SAN DIEGO. I became Dinning Manager at the HORTON GRAND HOTEL in the GAS LAMP QUARTER.

After three years, I was offered a promotion to run restaurants in LAGUNA BEACH (General Manager, Lord Nelson British Pub) and FOUNTAIN VALLEY and LAGUNA NIGUEL (Area Manager, two Black Angus Restaurants).

  • HOW MY AMERICAN DREAM FOUND A HOME IN CULVER CITY:

After working as Banquet Manager of the RIVIERA GOLF & COUNTRY CLUB in BRENTWOOD, was offered a position as DISTRICT SALES MANAGER for a distributing company for the West Los Angeles area.

When making a sales call, the owner of a CULVER CITY PUB told me that he looking a person to buy his restaurant. Naturally, I responded that he had just found that person in myself.

That is how JOXER DALY'S IRISH PUB was born. Thanks to support from CULVER CITY RESIDENTS and the business community, my small business has become a thriving success. JOXER DALY'S IRISH PUB is now a proud WASHINGTON BOULEVARD "landmark".

The residential neighbors, behind my restaurant, know me as a very responsible business neighbor. They know me as a person who takes responsibility, who listens to their concerns and who will do what is best for the neighborhood.

  • NOW IT IS TIME FOR ME TO GIVE BACK TO CULVER CITY:

Living the AMERICAN DREAM comes with a DEBT TO SOCIETY. When one becomes SUCCESSFUL IN BUSINESS or any other WALK OF LIFE, an opportunity comes when that DEBT TO SOCIETY can be paid back to all those who contributed to that success.

Living the AMERICAN DREAM by being very ACTIVE IN CULVER CITY ORGANIZATIONS and in helping to make my community better. I am active member in several community organizations, including:

St. Augustine's Parish (active on boards & committees)

Active Volunteer, Mustard Seed Community

Member, Church Building Committee

Co-Founder, St. Augustine's Golf Tournament

Culver City Lions Club

Culver City Elks Lodge

Culver City Sister City Committee

Culver City Homeowners Association

Rancho Higuera & East Culver City Neighborhood Alliance

Local rugby team player and rugby league supporter
