Dear community patriots. Most of us have been under the false assumption that by electing the same Latino representatives, that things will get better. On the contrary, things have gotten worse! As you are probably aware, I am up against a political machine that will try to buy the election again. It is the same political machine that has ignored our community for years. Nevertheless, now is the time for you "the people" to decide who will be elected. Will it be the same lawyers who have done little or nothing? Or is time to elect David J. Sanchez who is not affraid to speak on issues and to find solutions.

With my experience as a man close to the community and its longings, and with my expertise as a social technician, I can do a lot more to help solve the problems in our city. The last time I ran for office was for the College Board in 2003. And I thank you for your 80,000 votes.

I pledge to you that I will dedicate myself to create more jobs and to stop violence in our neighborhoods. In 1995, I was able to implement a plan which helped to reduce violence in our area by 40%, thus keeping youth from going into the prison system. During the late 60s and 70s, I worked for five years as a volunteer to promote justice and fair employment for Mexican Americans and others. This has been a part of my track record of dedication. Meanwhile, lawyers know best about the law and are good at bringing people to court. That's how they make their money.

We can do a lot to beautify our city by reducing the levels of poverty and its sturctural causes, the inadequate distribution of resources to those who most need it. We have seen this recently played out so clearly in the unfortunate Katrina hurricane. We can furthermore help to beautify our city by doing much more than we are now doing to reduce smog, and to extend recreational space and gardens.

For these and other priorities and projects, we can sure use some of that money that is being wasted in Iraq! Billions of dollars are being spent. The profits are going to big companies, while there is nothing for Eagle Rock, or for Boyle Heights, and nothing for El Sereno. That's not right, and we can help change that.

The population of the City of Los Angeles has doubled since 1960. In the future, we will be facing a dreadful over-population problem.

Traditional politicians from the traditional political machine are agrevating population density because they do not understand social problems, nor do the have adequate knowledge to understand theory to solve problems. For example, today we are creating a huge left-out and homeless population who is starting to move into our district. The lawyers say, put them all in jail. What is their crime? Incarceration is not the answer! Many people would be marked for life with a record, and not allowed to work. One million people are in jails in our state of California! We cannot continue to pay their jail cost! It is drainning the tax base, at fifty thousand dollars per year ($50,000) per person. What happens when these people come out? We need to put people to work or in school at far less than 50 thousand per year. Vote for the other candidate, and you will get nothing. "A vote for Sanchez is a vote for change". Bless all of you and lets make a change for the better. David John Sanchez
