GOING UP AGAINST THE MACHINE

An executive summary of the platform of David J. Sanchez
When I was growing up during the 60's, many of my friends had died in a world of much chaos where they became victims of violence, drugs, and the war in Vietnam. So I dedicated years to change this by being a part of the civil rights era which took place in Los Angeles, and things did improve everywhere. Since then, much has been lost. Last year in the City of Los Angeles, around 300 Latinos, 300 African Americans, and around 50 Whites were murdered. This is an indicator that homicide is one of the worst conditions in our city which needs to be resolved. Of course, I can reduce this problem by 40% thus saving a few hundred lives per year. Much of my background is in Communications Psychology which deals with social problems from a human perspective along with dealing with the reinforcing factors which promote problems. While working for the health department in the 90's, I did well in reducing violence and homicide only to be laid off by the tug of war by the political parties. In this case, the political machine took lives by removing me from my post. This is just one case where the political machine has actually oppressed the public. Unfortunately, the machine has the money to buy elections, and are so tied to favortism that they continue to elect the same people who just seem to rotate from office to office. Consequently, our dear government does not have a brain. It only thinks when there is a tragedy. That is why it is important to put me in office to save lives and careers, and to improve our streets. Further, our School Board has no leader to stop the 50% drop-out rate of students. If elected, I will find incentives to keep students in school until they are 18 years old. Including to change the law so that students are not allowed to drop-out so easily, and add more electives. Unknowingly, we are creating a huge left-out population which may later bring crime to our own doorstep. Street repairs can be done much faster. Youth and Adult programs can utilize volunteers and job training thus giving more people a chance to get involved in keeping our streets cleaner and well maintained. Jobs can be developed by creating job training programs. Therefore, enhancing the social role of civic participation. Funds for jobs can be available if we reduce crime, reduce the cost of courts and prisons, and reduce the war in Iraq. From this, I profoundly seek your assistance to let people know that you have a friend you will do more than anyone. Just look at the track record of the other candidates. Of course, I have a problem with lawyers who are running for the same position because most of them advocate nothing, nada! Nonetheless, at this time, we must put a stop to the circle of chaos and poverty. If elected, the buck stops right here! Dear Amigos, our resources are being used up by the political machine who have no knowledge of theory to solve problems. Do not be tricked or fooled by the same technocrat politicians who do nothing. Meanwhile, our taxes are going to administration cost, and little to frontline services. The machine also eats up much of our property taxes and less of it returns to our district. Its time to elect a leader, someone who cares about human life, someone who cares about the human suffering due to lack of jobs and the chaos in our streets. No longer can we let lawyers exploit the chaos, but to find solutions so that people do not go to court. The City of Los Angeles has become the most unfriendly place especially to our drivers. Costly parking tickets, harassment, and inspection of our cars needs to stop! The constitution states that inspections are unfair. We pay more in fines for parking tickets, more than any other city. Eloquently, justice is part of my platform. Today, a new kind of representative is needed. Please vote for me! David John Sanchez
