Smart Voter Political Philosophy for Gail K. Lightfoot

Candidate for
Councilmember; City of Arroyo Grande

This information is provided by the candidate

Libertarians do talk a lot about getting government off our backs and out of our pockets. We mean what we say. This is not about talking the talk, it is about walking the walk and doing what we promise. The best way to get the ever bigger state and federal governments off your back and out of your pockets is to bring most government services right down to the local level where you and I can decide exactly what we are willing to pay for and how we want to make those payments. My position on local government is it is exactly where I want government to be strongest. Where you have a direct say because City Council members are a neighbor not a career politician living out of touch with the real world. I am firm in my belief that every elected official is a representative of the people they serve. I intend to act as your representative on our City Council and any other Boards I am privileged to serve on while a member of the City Council. You and I can tell the higher levels of government we are perfectly willing and able to run our city and our lives according to our own beliefs.
