Candidate for
Board Member; Marina Coast Water District; Unexpired Short Term

I am running for the two year term seat for which I am presently the appointed incumbent.

I was appointed to this seat in March 2004 to fill the position of a director who resigned.

I've been a resident of Marina for seven years and have been a very interested participant in various Marina city planning issues such as; the development of the Armstrong Ranch, the General Plan Update and more recently the Marina Heights Development.

For a number of years, like many citizens, I sat on the sidelines and complained without sticking my neck out and volunteering to take an active position of political responsibility. I thought long and hard before volunteering for the seat on the water board. But I ultimately came to the conclusion that I owed something to the Community. Only one other person volunteered to fill the position, and that person is not currently running for election.

My experience so far has certainly been an eye opener. I have come to appreciate the complexity of the various issues that effect our water, and the professionalism and sincerity of the Directors now serving, as well as the Management and staff who deal with the day to day operation.

My wife Peggy is an operating room nurse on the open heart team at the Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital. All of our Children are grown up and on their own.
