ACCOMPLISHMENTS: Among the City of Arcata's many accomplishments receiving my strong support during my term as City Council member are:

  • Property acquisitions for protecting open space such as the Luchessi, Gannon Slough, Hunt Ranch, Atopak and other agriculture and forest properties, and for completion of many flood control projects on other City properties.

  • Increasing housing opportunities by expanding Arcata's first-time home buyers and housing rehabilitation programs, and by approving housing developments such as Janes Creek Meadow, Courtyards, Windsong II, and Plum Village.

  • Creation of important documents such as the Council Protocol Manual, the new Land Use Code, and the General Plan Housing Element and Economic Development Strategic Plan updates.

  • Supporting economic development projects such as the College of the Redwoods Hospitality Center, Tomas Jewelers, Northcoast Childrens Center and Humboldt Daycare Center.

  • Making children's playgrounds and City parks safer by the banning of tobacco and alcohol use there, a personal priority of mine.

  • Establishing a very positive and expanded relationship between Arcata City staff and the Humboldt State University administration.

  • Council Liaison to: Arcata House 2000 - present, Arcata Endeavor 2000 - 2002, Arcata Chamber of Commerce 2002- present, HSU Administration 2002- present, HSU Associated Students 2002- present, Co-chair Arcata Solid Waste Task Force 2002 - 2003, Co-chair Measure G Committee.
