Gale McNeeley was born in Cleveland, Ohio to Firefighter Robert McNeeley and his wife Marguerite. Gale benefited from 16 years of Catholic education, including 8 years with the Jesuits (at St. Ignatius High School and John Carroll University), both in Cleveland.

Gale enlisted in the navy in 1969 and received a medical discharge in 1970. From 1970 to 1990 Gale worked as an actor on stage, TV, in films and on tour with two companies he helped found, (the Kit-n-Kaboodle Clown Circus and Seattle's New World Commedia).

In 1987, Gale settled in San Diego, California, where he worked for ten years in AIDS services. For the last five of these years, he was Director of Fraternity House and Michaelle House, Residential Care Facilities for men and women living with AIDS.

Since 2002, Gale has lived in Santa Maria, where he works as a grant writer for California non-profit organizations, and serves as a guest lecturer in the theatre departments of Alan Hancock College and Cuesta College.

He is currently the Media Chair of the SLO for Kucinich Presidential Campaign.
