Since 1904 the Vargas family has called Livermore home. Tom Vargas is a third generation Livermore resident and with Cheryl, his wife of 28 years, have raised three sons: Ben-22, Matt-17 and Dan-15.

Tom has served Livermore as a member of the City Council from 1985 until 1989 and was re-elected in 1991 including four terms as Vice-Mayor. He has been a member of the Livermore Chamber of Commerce since 1980 and is a member of the Economic Development Committee.

He graduated from San Jose State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and has been employed by First American Title Insurance Company since 1988 where he is a Divisional Vice President.
