Kris Bailey Bio

Kris Bailey has been a public relations consultant for over 20 years and has specialized in political consulting for about 15 years. She has aided in the election of a congressman, three members of the California State Assembly, two mayors and three city council members. Her most recent victories include manager of the campaign of Compton Councilwoman Yvonne Arceneaux and communications director for Assemblyman Mervyn M. Dymally during his bid for the 52nd Assembly District. Bailey is also a trainer in community organizing, public relations, and media and public policy advocacy. As a media advocate and community organizer, Bailey was instrumental in the passage of an ordinance banning alcohol and tobacco billboards in the city of Compton, the first such ordinance to be passed in the state of California. Subsequently, she led the fight for passage of similar ordinances in the cities of Carson and Lynwood, respectively. She is the organizer and founder of the Compton Community Annual Pre-Mother's Day Breakfast honoring women in recovery who are putting something back into their community. Bailey is a conference speaker, and has conducted public relations, community organizing and media advocacy workshops for such notable institutions as the American Medical Association and the County of Los Angeles.

For three years, she served as a Faculty Advisor for the Women's Health Leadership Program based in Sacramento.

She is also the author of two training manuals, Public Relations: A Multi-Media Campaign and Impacting Public Policy: Through Community Organizing and Media Advocacy; and two booklets on women in recovery titled, Sisters In Recovery: Success Stories of African- American Woman Volumes I & II. Volume III is currently in production.

Bailey is the winner, two years consecutively, of the prestigious PRAME (Public Relations/ Advertising and Marketing Excellence) AWARD. This award is bestowed annually upon Black public relations, advertising and marketing professionals by a committee of their peers, and is considered to be the Oscar of the Black Public Relations, Advertising and Marketing Industry.

Bailey has lived in Paramount for over 9 years. She is a mother and a grandmother. Her professional affiliations include the Black Public Relations Society of America and the Public Communicators of Los Angeles. Her community and civic affiliations include: the Martin Luther King Jr. Democratic Club, the City of Paramount Public Safety Commission, the Paramount Women's Club and the National Council of Negro Women.
