Fiscal Responsibility

By David Glass

Candidate for Mayor; City of Petaluma

This information is provided by the candidate
My Occupation as a Municipal Finance Professional at Raymond James Financial Services gives me the expertise to make sure your tax dollars are spent wisely.
As Mayor I have the expertise to understand the financial constraints and challenges facing our city. We must recognize certain financial truths. The State of California is expecting a 24 billion dollar budget shortfall. The federal government once again is adding deficits to a multi trillion dollar national debt. We need to act reponsibly in our decisions. We can not expect Sacramento or Washington to bail us out of our problems. In fact it is Petaluma and all the other cities around the state, that by law, will be required to bail out the State. In light of that we must treat every dollar with respect, as we decide how to spend it for the greatest good for the community. We should not expose our town to multi million dollar losses and future legal liabilites by building in the flood plain. It is not fiscally responsible to spend more money studying the Rainier cross-town connector. It has been studied to death. As Mayor I will make sure your tax dollars are spent wisely on your behalf.
