Repair Streets

By David Glass

Candidate for Mayor; City of Petaluma

This information is provided by the candidate
As Mayor I will support increased revenues calling for fair and equitable shared pain in looking for the vast sums of money which will be needed to fix our streets.
This problem has been created over the past twenty years. The City has identified 146 million dollars of street repairs which must be made. We can no longer afford to ignore this problem. The magnitude of the problem increases almost daily. We must look at every conceivable source of funds if we are to adequately address this issue. The most obvious source of funds is an increase in our development impact fee. Other sources of funding will be traffic impact fees, capital improvement funds, transit occupancy taxes, redevelopment agency funds, general fund revenues, and voter approved parcel taxes packaged with a small sales tax increase. Even with all of the funds from all of these accounts we will be unable to make up for decades of neglect. As Mayor I will utilize my financial expertise and communication skills providing the leadership to work toward a successful solution to this difficult problem.
