Water Quality

By Jack Beebe

Candidate for Director; Soquel Creek Water District

This information is provided by the candidate
Water quality is of paramount concern to me as a District Director.
The water delivered to our customers meets or exceeds all State and Federal Safe Drinking Water Standards. The District's system is meticulously inspected on a regular basis by the State Department of Health Services and receives excellent reviews. This does not mean water quality is not of concern. As improved technology for testing and treating water is developed and medical research identifies heretofore unrecognized envirnomental health hazards, the District will continually face the challenge of addressing water quality. The District has continuously invested in the best water treatment facilities available for water quality issues of concern to our customers. The first of these state-of-art treatment plants is now under construction at the Garnet Street well in Capitola. The District is actively seeking grant funding for a pilot study to remove chromium 6 and for other treatment projects to address water quality. The water from the Soquel Creek Water District meets or exceeds all State and Federal Safe Drinking Water Standards now and will continue to meet these standards in the future.
