All Schools Need to Strive to Meet California (API) Standards.

By George Sanchez

Candidate for Board Member; Franklin-McKinley School District

This information is provided by the candidate
Our scores continue to improve in the API rankings. We need to support our schools in this critical area.
The State of California has set API (Academic Performance Index) standards for all schools. This year our district schools performed extremely well. In fact, twelve of our fourteen schools met or exceeded California (API) standards. As a member of this board, I will continue to work with fellow board members, administration and teachers to ensure that our students are given the instruction necessary to achieve this goal. I would like to see all of our fourteen schools meeting or exceeding API standards for the coming year. Our parents and the general public want to see children doing well on these state tests. As a student advisor at the high school level, I know how important it is to make sure students are at grade level or higher when they enter high school. In my next term, I will continue being an advocate for high academic standards and will support our teachers with the tools necessary for them to accomplish this task.
