Continue to Seek Adequate Funding for Our Schools

By George Sanchez

Candidate for Board Member; Franklin-McKinley School District

This information is provided by the candidate
At the present time, our state economy is in a downward spiral. Our school funding has been cut back substantially.
As your board member, I will work with my colleagues to ensure that we continue lobbying the state for adequate funding. Funding cutbacks affect schools very negatively. There is less money available for programs and employee compensation. School districts are at the mercy of the state economy. We went through some very good years but are now seeing cutbacks taking place throughout the educational community. Our district is fortunate to have a Superintendent who will be the President of ACSA (Association of School Administrators) for the coming year. We will work closely with CSBA (California School Boards Association) and ACSA to make sure that our voices are heard at the State Capitol. As a board, we will work closely with Larry Aceves, our Superintendent, as he looks for additional funding for our district.
