Member, Board of Directors; Berkeley Unified School District

English Literature major in Portland, Oregon, B.A. 1971, following felony conviction with prison time in Federal Correctional Institution, Lompoc, California, 1968. Moved to Berkeley 1971. Arrested in demonstrations against Nixon/bombing in Cambodia, 1971, served sentence in Alameda County Jail, at Santa Rita. Worked as industrial engineer for Sierra Designs and North Face Berkeley factories. Went to law school, Boalt Hall, U.C. Berkeley, graduated 1975. Refused admission to California Bar due to criminal convictions, but then admitted after receiving Full and Unconditional Presidential Pardon. Finished law school and received coveted State Senate Fellowship. Worked in Sacramento for Minority Leader, thought up legislation which was passed and signed by Gov. Jerry Brown returning 2-3 BILLION dollars in utility overpayments to consumers. Became full-time consultant to State Senate Education Committee and conducted state-wide hearings. Thwarted in attempts to reform teacher union stranglehold on teacher employment law, left Senate in disgust, and went to Eastern Europe to learn Polish and then study medicine.

Arrived in Poland at momentous time in history; Krakow's Cardinal became Pope. Became deeply involved in Polish Underground, tracked by Secret Police; became Solidarity Union elected officer; eventually arrested at anti-martial law demonstrations after 45,000 activists arrested and scores killed, and expelled from country. My Polish wife and son were held against their will.

Got wife and son out of Poland, had daughter born in Belgium, finished medical school there, and practiced as doctor in the USA since then.
