David Heller was born in Israel and emigrated to New York as a child. He became part of the fashion industry in the 1970s for which his company won many awards including a Coty Award.

He fell in love with and moved to San Francisco in 1977 from New York. From 1977-1984, David imported art objects from the far east. In 1986 he became the owner of the Beauty Network. He married and became a father to two children who are now grown. He currently works along side his wife at the Beauty Network.

David has been an active community leader for many years. In 1994 he was elected as president of the Greater Geary Boulevard Merchants and Property Owners Association and has held this position since. He has worked with Mayor Art Agnew, Mayor Frank Jordan, as well as Mayor Willie Brown. He has been active in many of Mayor Willie Brown's task forces including the Small Business Summit, the Crime Summit, and the District Attorney's Bad Check Task Force. He was also appointed by the Board of Supervisors to the Central Freeway Task Force.

As part of the Democratic Central Committee, David hopes to help reinvigorate the Democratic Party and encourage greater participation by the community in the democratic process through organizing voter registration drives. He hopes to bring support to the local economy and small businesses, support the rights of minority groups, enhance the appearance of our neighborhoods, and keep the streets clean. In general, David hopes to make the quality of life better for the citizens of San Francisco.
